People Protecting Pets—The Paws For Putnam Story

Few visitors drop by Putnam County's animal shelter, which is tucked away inside the county landfill site away from a main highway. To get into the shelter you literally have to drive through the garbage truck maintenance yard.

The dedicated staff works tirelessly at the shelter, reaching out to find homes for the animals that have been abandoned by owners. Armed only with a rescue list, the staff calls and begs for help to save the animals who have been there for a long time or need to get out quickly due to health reasons.

Trying to maintain a “no-kill” status is a huge undertaking for any shelter, but especially a rural one like this that is hidden away from any traffic. There few resources to reach out to for help. Sounding the alarm is a staff of hard and dedicated workers who have reached our hearts. They need support to remain euthanasia free and we want to help them.

Paws for Putnam is an incorporated non-profit that registered with the State of Florida on February 27, 2019. Our document number is N19000002342.
